BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM: F28379D with DRV8305 does not work at 200MHz

Part Number: BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM

Hi,

I am using BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM with the LAUNCHXL-F28379D evaluation board to run a PMSM motor. If I set the PLL of F28379D above 190MHz, the motor starts to rattle violently.

I have a custom made board that has F28773S and DRV8320 gate drivers, and that can go to 198MHz which is the maximum you can go with the crystal used in it. There is no issue with running the same code in that one.

Do you have any idea what the reason would be.

Thanks,

Dhammika

Hi

I have been reading the blog :

Teaching Your PI Controller to Behave ,

in part III : https://e2e.ti.com/blogs_/b/industrial_strength/archive/2013/03/09/teaching-you-pi-controller-to-behave-part-iii

I quote: "The transfer function from motor current to motor torque will vary as a function of what type of motor you are using.  Assuming we are using a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor under Field Oriented Control, the transfer function between q-axis current and motor torque is:"

what is the equivalent of this parameter in PMDC motor ( Brushed motor )

my initial guess is kt (Nm/A)

Dear all

I have some questions about this device, please help me to check them, thanks a lot.

     1. What is the working principle of DRV11873 device ? How to drive fan by this device ?

     2. How to achieve closed-loop control ?

     3. From 2000rpm to 260rpm speed, Is the same speed when all DRV11873 chips drive the same fan ? If not, What is the error ? Please share me with the calculate formula.

     4. What is the error between the speed of the FG pin feedback and the actual fan speed ?

DRV10983: DRV10983 Speed setting resolution using I2C setting Register target speed 3000RPM

$

Part Number: DRV10983

Dear all,

I have been using the EVM and gui to get the a 24v BLDC motor running.

It is working well I have followed the Tuning guide and tuned all the parameters.

The RPM is now very stable,

I have written a program On an STM32 to set the speed by I2C Command,

1st I wrie bits 7 to a 1 in register 0x01 spped crtl2 //this enables the drv10983 to takes I"C speed settings

I than set various values the range is 0-511 decimal into register 0x00

my target speed is 3000 RPM

If I set 112 112 and 113 decimal speed commands of 0x6E, 0x6F and 0x70 which is near the speed I want

the folwing rpms is achieved

111 0x6E = 2960 RPM

112 0x6F = 2990 RPM

113 0x70 = 3020 RPM

Changing reg 0x00 speed command by 1 bit results in a big change of 30 RPM, its ion closed loop

the rpm is very stable wich is great but the single increase of 1 in reg 0x00 changes the RPM by 30 Rpm per 1 bit in 0-511 speed set point

if I cancel I2C speed command and use a 10 Turn POT on the analogue input I can adjust the speed to exactly 3000 RPM my target speed. But using I2C command it jumps by 30 RPM per bit

it is asif the pot has a better reoloution than the speed setpoint register

if I set a large number or turn the POT only two 1/3rd on the motor goes 6000 RPM far to fast

How can i increase the resoloution each step of 0-511 in the speed set point makes it jump 30 RPM for 1 bit in 0-511 speed setpint

its to course the steps i need are in between 112 and 113 0x6F and 0x70 to get exactly 3000RPM

Its as if the pot has a better resoloution than the speed set point register as using pot i can set eactly 3000RPM

is there a paramater that can tune the motor make the speed setting reg 0x00 be less course so changing by 1 bit dosent move speed as much as 30RPM per step.

it asif there isnt enough resoloution each steo from 0-511 jumps 30 RPM, how come the pot can set eactly to 3000RPM on ten turn wiper but in reg each step is to course

Its in closed loop and very stable but the speed setting is to course is there a partamater to slow the maximum speed to make the speed command 0x00 effecxtivley less course / less rpm per step

i dont want to use a pot i want to set it by i2c in my final spplication many thanks

Matthew

DRV2624: Diagnostics and Auto calibration modes both fail

Part Number: DRV2624

Hello,

I'm trying to use the DRV2624 to drive a Mini Disc Vibrating Motor 1027(https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oxdAw6sSTIJld3jplucBFAFzRFhsW3CE/view)

I've adjusted the Rated and Overdrive voltages (3Vrms and 5V) as well as the resonance frequency (175Hz).

But both "diagnostic" and "auto calibration" modes now flag an error (Register 0x01: 0x88).

Our configuration before doing diagnostic and "auto calibration":

reg:0x7 0x48
reg:0x8 0x08
reg:0x1f 0x7d   //Rated voltages: 3V
reg:0x20 0xf3   //Overdrive voltages: 5V
reg:0x23 0x36   //FB_BRAKE_FACTOR[6:4]: 3,    LOOP_GAIN[3:2]: 2
reg:0x27 0x10   //DRIVE_TIME[4:0]: 16
reg:0x28 0x11   //BLANKING_TIME[7:4]:1,            IDISS_TIME[3:0]: 1
reg:0x29 0x0c   //SAMPLE_TIME[3:2]:3,                ZC_DET_TIME[1:0]: 0
reg:0x2a 0x02   //AUTO_CAL_TIME[1:0]: 2

Motor 1027 is a ERM actuator, right? Does DRV2624 support to drive this Motor?

Thank you!

Xu Yaoyang

DRV8353RH-EVM: DRV8353RH-EVM

Part Number: DRV8353RH-EVM

Hello.

We bought 3 boards DRV8353RH-EVM. They operate at low revs and then drv8353 burns when the revs increase to 2000rpm. Soldering drv8353 helps, makes the board work again, but then again the microcircuit burns out.

This made us think that something was wrong with the boards, because this should not happen.

DRV8824: Cannot measure the desired current

Part Number: DRV8824

Hi,

I set the driver as in the figure below.

I chosse a sense resistor 0R68 to achieve a chop current of 1A, according to the datasheet (page 20).

I'm using the part number ST4209X1004-A of Nanotec.

I have to main problems:

1) When the motor is enables, when no PWM is present I can read a sink current of 1A from my power supply. When a PWM is present I read a sink current of 200mA. I also see this behaviour with the voltge across the R_sense;

2) If I set a pwm frequency greater than 50kHz, the motor is vibrating without moving;

have I wrong something?

Thank you for your precious support.

Part Number: DRV10983Q1EVM

Hello,

I too am having an issue I can't get around regarding a write error:

DRV10983 USB2ANY.lvclass:Write

Register.vi<ERR>

Register writing not successful!!!

I do have the 3 voltages present and correct.  I tried to reboot many times.  Tried different power up sequencing.  I have 15V from power supply (tried 12V as well).

I did an install using the default directories created by the installer.  I am using Win 10.  Is that the issue?

Thanks,

Russ

DRV8873: Driver getting hot when powered and NOT driving a load

$

Part Number: DRV8873

I've designed a circuit to drive a brushed linear actuator at 28 Vm. I've got all the parts soldered onto the board. When I apply power, however, the DRV8873 gets hot even though there is no motor connected and the EN/IN1 and PH/IN2 pins are low. I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. Here is the current design. Do you see anything obvious that needs to be changed?

DRV8844: driver operates slower in one direction than other

$

Part Number: DRV8844

Hi,

I'm using the DRV8844 to drive a single DC brushed motor, so I'm connecting the outputs in parallel to increase the available current (as discussed here). I have OUT1/2 shorted and OUT3/4 shorted, and same for IN1/2, EN1/2, and IN3/4, EN3/4.

I'm using slow decay drive, so PWM'ing the INx pins and keeping ENx constant logic high (as shown in Table 3 of the datasheet).

It is working; however, I noticed that the speed is pretty significantly different depending on which INx pair I drive with the PWM. The direction of the IN3/4 pair's max speed is about 20% that of the IN1/2 pair. I confirmed that this is independent of the motor, as I reversed the motor leads and the slower direction stayed with the same pair. I've also confirmed that the PWM signals are as expected; they're exactly the same for each pair.

I'm at a loss as to why I should be seeing such a discrepancy?

thanks,

Ryan

HI,

I Have designed an Electronic load. (Please find the circuit below). I-load = VDAC / (R3 || R13). The mosfet is rated for 100V and 360A. when my VBUS is 24V and my current is exceeding 7A, My MOSFET is getting damaged. What is the reason for this to happen? am I Missing any parameter to consider?

Note: Mosfet is mounted on a very big heat sink and Up to 7A it is working fine.
