CCS/DRV8323R: nFAULT always on.
Part Number: DRV8323R
Tool/software: Code Composer Studio
Hi guys,
I've a strange problem with a custom board.
I'm using DRV8323RH and a F28069M. I made a simple brushless sensorless torque control.
You can see the "power drive" schematic attached to this post.
I've control all over the pins and I don't see strange behaviors. So, I'm trying to use a modded version of "motorware lab5a".
When I set "gMotorVars.Flag_enableSys" flag always it's ok.
When I set "gMotorVars.Flag_Run_Identify" flag nFAULT goes on and the driver latch to error condition. I try to reset with a pulse on ENABLE pin but the nFAULT condition immediately reappears.
In this condition if I control the MCU with the Oscilloscope I can see the PWM signals over all "MOS gate" signals.
Someone can help me debug this issue?
Regards,
P.S.:
- Internal Buck regulator: NOT USED;
- Voltage +VB : +48Vdc;
- MODE Pin: set to GND (6x PWM);
- VDS control: disable...VDS tied to VDD (at the moment...);
DRV8874: information about the Iq of DRV8874
Part Number: DRV8874
Hi,
My customer is wondering if there are more detail for what is the condition will cause the Iq increase to 5uA from 0.75uA under typical operation?
Thanks a lot for your help.
DRV8873-Q1: nITrip setting
Part Number: DRV8873-Q1
Hi Team,
I have two question about the DRV8873-Q1 as a half bridge driver.
- If the nITRIP is disable, I(ocp) is only operate for current limit. Is it correct?
- Do you have any idea to provide the 12 A output current? I know the peak current the 10 A but a system is required for the 12 A for just 10ms. Please give me idea. Is it possible to use as a like current sharing topology?
Thanks,

DRV8873-Q1: Two questions for application
Part Number: DRV8873-Q1
Hi team,
My customer have two questions about the application of DRV8873-Q1. Could you please help to give some advice?
1. What is the maximum current that nSLEEP pin can withstand?
2. When configured in Independent Half Bridge mode, customer want to connect the load between OUTx and VM. Is it a robust use of DRV8873? Besides the restriction of internal current regulation explained in the datasheet, is there any other risk in such application?
Thank you very much for your help.

DRV8850: Minimum logic high voltage (1h, 2h) vs VCC
Part Number: DRV8850
Team,
in our system the control logic voltage high can be max. 2.5V. The VCC that we have for DRV8850 is 5.5V.
Now, there's a requirement that the min. logic high voltage is 0.5Vcc, so in our case that would be 2.75V - slightly larger than what we can provide with 2.5V.
We tested this scenario and the device seems to respond to 2.5V logic voltage as a high - can we be sure though that it's going to be like that in mass production scale?
Thanks.

DRV8353RH-EVM: About the dead time.
Part Number: DRV8353RH-EVM
Hi team.
I reviewed 'https://e2e.ti.com/support/motor-drivers/f/38/t/800488?DRV8353RH-EVM-Dead-time-problem'.
I'd like to know bellow questions.
1.What value should the VDS voltage be set to start the dead time?
This mean is we'd like to get as close to the set value as possible..
2.Even if we adjust IDrive,, we get a 200nS difference.(we set 400nS but it is 680nS)
Sincerely.
Kengo.
DRV3245Q-Q1: drv3245, load open short
Part Number: DRV3245Q-Q1
Hi~
In DRV3245, is there any way to detect load(UVW) open or short?
Typically, customer want to implement detect motor load open or short function in these days, but it looks no function.
If there are any workarounds or idea, please, share with me.
Thanks.
UC3637: Does it possible to apply in PT and CT
Part Number: UC3637
Hello Sir,
My intention is to make an 3-phase power calibrator, https://us.flukecal.com/products/ele...wer-calibrator
For more idea, take a look here,
I was looking for a ClassD solution, https://e2e.ti.com/support/audio/f/6/t/842164
Many people says " potential transformer PT can be applicable with TPA3220(analog input), or TAS5760M or TPA3116D2". Mostly they are , Speaker Bar, Docks or Consumer Audio Application.
My case is different.
My requirements were,
REQUIRMENTS :
1. The amp input should be plus and minus 7volt AC, 45-65Hz( 1 Hz has been converted to 1024)
2. Amp operating voltage should be more or less 24v.
3. 2 channel signal (not sure PWM) should be use , one for current, one for voltage.
4.Can run current transformer(input 16.5 V/1.5 A) and potential Transformer (input15v/2A). PT output may be 15VAC.
5. If possible both voltage and current amplification is required in one IC.
6. Both positive and negative half signal should be amplify. ( take a look bellow For CT, current transformer primary winding has 80turns, 16.5 V/1.5 A, secondary has 20Turns, 4.125v/6A output! For PT, Potential transformer, Primary has 80turns, 15v/2A rating input, secondary has centertap! At secondary 960turns, 360v/0.332 A and 960turns 180v/0.166A output.
I wanna move to Bridge type/SMPS type application, since it looks little bit high current and voltage application.
Dont you think UC3637 can be applicable in this case?
Most probably the challenge is to control facilities, since my system has instruction from central stm32!

DRV8874: what is the correct number of current mirror scaling factor?
Part Number: DRV8874
Hi,
My customer founds that there are different description for the current scaling factor.
When it's art electrical characteristic:
but during the design procedure: it becomes 1000
and 1000 is also used in the 8.2.1.2
can you help to let us know if there are typo or what is the condition cause this factor to change?
Great thanks for your help.
DRV8870: Absolute Maximum Ratings OUT1 and OUT2
Part Number: DRV8870
Hi
In generally, we have not to exceed the absolute maximum rating even if a moment.
But, I want to exactly confirm about DRV8870 OUT1 and OUT2 pins Absolute Maximum Ratings.
OUT1 and OUT2 pins will drop to negative voltage between dead time. (dead time = 220ns typ, Actually, it is exceed it at the waveform of Figure 11 (around -2V).)
And, the datasheet is written "Continuous". So, I think, it is rating in the case of apply continuous voltage.
My understanding is below,
The negative voltage during tDEAD is not covered by the absolute maximum ratings, because the negative voltage during dead time is an internal behavior, it isn't an external stress.
Is it correct?
If it is not correct, Could you please let me know the definition of "Continuous"? (over xxx ms is NG, something like that )
Absolute maximum rating
Continuous phase node pin voltage (OUT1, OUT2) : -0.7 to VM+0.7
Footnote (1)
(1) Stresses beyond those listed under Absolute Maximum Ratings may cause permanent damage to the device. These are stress ratings
only, which do not imply functional operation of the device at these or any other conditions beyond those indicated under Recommended
Operating Conditions. Exposure to absolute-maximum-rated conditions for extended periods may affect device reliability.

DRV8343-Q1: PWM duty resolution when using 10k PWM frequency
Part Number: DRV8343-Q1
Hi Team,
My customer wants to know how much duty resolution can DRV8343 handle.
According to datasheet, its max fpwm is 200k though, does this mean PWM frequency or frequency limit that DRV8343 can follow?
As a study case, when using at PWM frequency as 10KHz,
What is the minimum resolution that can be achieved?
What is the minimum pulse width that DRV8343 can handle?

CCS/DRV8312: Meaning of sentence in level 3 from pdf "Trapezoidal Control of BLDC Motors Using Hall Effect Sensors".
Part Number: DRV8312
Tool/software: Code Composer Studio
We are performing BLDC sensored motor control algorithm. For this we are referring pdf "Trapezoidal Control of BLDC Motors Using Hall Effect Sensors".
In this pdf, while performing level3 we came across a sentence "The offsets will be automatically calculated by passing the measured currents through a low-pass filter to obtain the average value when zero current is flowing through the sensors."
What does automatically means here?
Attached the screenshot of sentence from pdf.
DRV8886AT: About change magnitude of current waveform as increasing speed
Part Number: DRV8886AT
Hi
Our customer is evaluating DRV8886AT and see the below phenomenon.
Could you kindly advise why the phenomenon was seen and how DRV8886AT control at high speed range.
Operating conditions
- Motor : 2,000 pps -> 18,000pps (increasing speed gradually)
- Driver : ILIM 1.4A, 1/4 step, Autotune
Let me share the current wave internally.
Customer see the magnitude of current waveform changes large -> small -> middle as speed increases
Motor manufacturer mentioned that when magnitude is decreasing from large to small is caused by back electromotive current but when magnitude changes small to middle is DRV886AT would control something.
Could you kindly advise how DRV8886AT controll at high-speed range ?
Thank you and best regards,
Michiaki
DRV8873-Q1: Maximum transient current rating of nSLEEP pin
Part Number: DRV8873-Q1
Hi team,
My customer want to know the maximum transient current rating of nSLEEP pin. Below is my preliminary thought about it.
When SDO logic changes from 0 to 1, there will have a transient current through nSLEEP pin to charge the parasitic capacitor of the low-side Mosfet and the external load. I think this current would be the maximum current through nSLEEP pin under all conditions. So the questions are:
1. How to evaluate the transient charging current through nSLEEP pin in this scenario? Is that determined by the Rdson?
2. What's the maximum transient current allowed by nSLEEP pin? Should customer add some resistor between 5V and nSLEEP pin to reduce the transient charging current? Thank you.

Arie

DRV8353R: Is it a Issue of DRV8353's Current Messing Signals ?
Part Number: DRV8353R
Hi,
Our Project is working now with DRV8353RS to drive a PMSM Motor. We are using all of 3 Shunt Resistors to measurement Motor Phase Currents.
By HIL- Testing it happened a strange thing with motor current. After about 20 seconds with high load test, current value decrease about 3A.
I have checked these SO_x Signals from Gate Driver and it is probably depended on temperature. By 90 °C increases SOx_Signal 0,01V like be calculated 3A.
First question:
How can i compensate this temperature drift effect ?
Second question:
After this Measurement, i have noticed that, three SOx_Signals don't have the same voltage level and the signal behaviors in depending on temperature are also difference.
Below you can see a diagram of SOx_Signal depending on temp.
Thanks !
Best regard.
