Hi,

I have a DRV8301 motor control kit. I want  to design my own power stage for this kits control card .I could not find any PCB layout file for DIMM100 socket which used on this board for plug the control card.

Is there a library or layout file for this socket for any design platform.

Need Help in creating a driver for a 220v AC Servo Motor

Hello Everyone,

I am a new to electronics and have been working on to design a Motor Drive for comonly available Serveo motors like:

  • http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/1580332915/servo_motor_used_in_CNC_machine.html
  • http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/1498109752/1_pH_or_3pH_Input_220V.html

I want to controll my Motor from a microcontroller like an Arduino or any other prototyping Board.

I looked into the TI's Catalog and found DRV8301 suitable for the application but I am not sure as it accepts 60v-80v DC and these motors are AC motors (and I think 3 Phase).

The range of motors vary from 400W to 5KW and all are rated for 220v.

Can anyone suggest me a driver circuit to controll these motors.

Thanks,

Balwant Singh

Expected supply current calculation for DRV8825

I'd like to theoretically calculate the average expected current draw for a basic DRV8825 stepper motor application, even if it is just an approximate estimate.

Suppose I have a 24V DC supply to the DRV8825, with ample bulk capacitance near the chip, and a bipolar stepper motor with a 2.5A max phase current rating and a phase resistance of 1.25 ohms.

Suppose I have 0.1 ohm current sense resistors and Vref set to 1V (identical configuration for both coils), giving a chopper current setpoint of 2.0A. I have the microstepping ratio mode set to 1/32, and I clock the step input for reasonably fast continuous rotation of the motor.

Given these sort of example conditions, how can I calculate an expected value for the current demand from the 24V supply?

Motor Control Libraries for TMS570

Hi,

Is there any documentation about motor control libraries for TMS570 family. In control suite i found some documents for  F28xx family and i think there are some differenties between this two families library files. Some control libraries for TMS570 doesn't match with its explanation at the document which documented for F28xx.

About VMX and VM of DRV8818

Although absolute maximum rating(VMX) and the recommended oparating range(VM) are that it is the same (35V), is it right about the voltage range(Max) of DRV8818?

Is either a clerical error?
(Is VXM high to a slight degree?)

Thank you for your consideration.

AC Induction Motor Scalar Control

#define RS 11.05 // Stator resistance (ohm)
#define RR 6.11 // Rotor resistance (ohm)
#define LS 0.316423119 // Stator inductance (H)
#define LR 0.316423119 // Rotor inductance (H)
#define LM 0.2939397 // Magnatizing inductance (H)
#define POLES 4 // Number of poles

Hello Everyone,

I'm working with AC Induction Scalar Control Project.

For that I've imported the code from control-suit.

I've kept the value of AC Induction parameters (LR , RR, etc.) as it was, just change the value of POLES, RPM in the code as I don't have the datasheet for my AC Induction Motor.

I've set the Build-level = 3, after verifying the SVM and Sine (between two winding) waveform and calibrate the feedback current in previous two build-levels.

Now I've set the Build-level = 3, progressively I'm increasing the value of SpeedRef from 0.1 pu (IQ24) to 0.4 pu (IQ24) from Watch-window. I'm observing the Sine wave by use of CCS Graph and the value of vhz1.Freq from watch-window too.

For, SpeedRef from 0.1 pu (IQ24) to 0.3 pu (IQ24), the value of vhz1.Freq < 0.5 pu (IQ24), and sine wave is proper, but motor can't rotate.

But for, SpeedRef from 0.35 pu and above, the value of vhz1.Freq > 0.5 pu (IQ24), and sine wave is not proper, but motor starts to rotate on specified speed. (FYI: vhz1.HighFreq = _IQ(0.5);

my Qs are;

  1. Why the energized winding lost the shape of sine wave?
  2. When the energized winding has the sine wave, motor can't rotate?
  3. Is there any issue regarding the motor parameters?
  4. Should I change in the line vhz1.HighFreq = _IQ(0.5);?

DRV8711 Holding current

Hello,

I'm planning to use DRV8711 for Stepper motor (4A RMS) position + holding control. Below clarifications required.

1. While using DRV8711 in micro step mode, how does the stepper motor holding happens?

2.  If the motor is turned-off at 2amps and holding current required is 3amps or 1amps. How to configure the holding current value?

3. Whether DRV8711 can be interfaced to DRV8432?

DRV8711 Max Step Frequency

Our Application is 2-phase 256-microStep bi-polar Motor Driver with DC 24V for Factory Automation.

250kHz is the max Step fequency in the DRV8711 Datasheet, page 9.

It can operate at 500kHz with 0.25us pulse width, and measured about 9.7rps at 1/256 step mode.

What kind of problem we could encounter at above condition?

Our competitive companies in S.Korea, produced thier end-product with 500kHz step frequency or 1MHz.

We must have to compete them with DRV8711, which can operate at 500kHz as same as other end-product competitive company, however; spec is max. 250kHz.

Trouble IDing motor using DRV8301 BoosterPack +F2807F

Hi,

I am trying to ID my motor using this kit and running Proj 2c. I most likely do not have the correct parameters set for the motor due to my lack of understanding of what the variables are. I have attached the relevant parameters in the user.h file.

If I need to run the ID at slow speed (<100°/s), is USER_IQ_FULL_SCALE_FREQ_Hz the correct variable to change?

Thanks!

Alternative MOSFET driver with same Vds monitoring for overcurrent protection

Hi all,

I like the over current protection via Vds monitoring of the DRV8301 since it does not require a sense resistor. I am looking for a high-side MOSFET driver with the same capability but with higher voltage operation, e.g. 80V instead of 60V. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Gert

Hi,

I'm using the DRV8301-LS31-kit with the TMS570 control card.  I want to make the motor-drive stand alone from the sample GUI that comes with the install CDs.

Or if there are some samples that I could use, that would be great.

Thank you,

Nate

Hi,

i'm trying to control four BLDC motors simultaneously, and i have an eZdsp board (the F2812 for TMS320F2812 Dsp) for that, i will use the drv8313 evm like the power stage between the board and motor because it could be driven with an external signal from the dsp.

my questions are :

is it possible to link the four DRV8313 evm boards to the dsp board simultaneously

is there any support of how to drive the DRV8313 evm with an external controlleur because i don't find anythong about that in the user guide(connectors, cables, pin connections etc...)

thanks

uc2625 intermittent failure to drive phases

I have an BLDC motor which we developed in the late 90's.  At that time the application note had a .1uF  capacitor connected between pin 24 (SSTART) and ground.  At the time we were using a UC1625 Mil Rated chip.  We recently assembled a batch of 25 of these motors using a UC2625N chip and found that some (2) units would intermittently fail to produce phase drives while receiving Hall sensor inputs.  Upon checking we found that pin 24 in those units was low in those instances.  Upon checking, we found that the newer application notes for the UC2625 controllers have pin 24 pulled up to Vref with a 51K resistor, besides having the .1uF capacitor to ground.  Has anything changed in the internal works of the UC2615 chip, and should we redesign that board to incorporate the pull up resistor?

BQ32000 RTC battery draining issue

Hi folks,

I am using BQ32000 RTC in my design.battery is fully discharged after came from assembly house.3V battery is discharged to 0.6V within 4 days or less.I observed same this condition in all the boards.
We observed below strange behavior i.e; I connected current meter in series to battery to monitor the current.
That time my board is in turnoff and only monitoring the battery discharging current.

As per datasheet(page no. 4 I backup supply current) ,it should not take discharge current more than 1.5uA.But sometimes it is taking 60uA of discharging current(whenever i am trying connect the multimeter operating in current mode) and sometimes 1.9uA of current.
If issue will be the probing, then it should give 21 days battery backup  .I am not able to conclude that what might be the issue.I opened ground pin of RTC(suspected leakage current) and connected battery directly on RTC 3rd and 4th pin.I observed the still same behavior.

We assembled only RTC IC and battery(MS412FE-FL26E) on the bare PCB board and observed battery discharging current, the behavior is same as above mentioned.
I did one more experiment , i added schottky diode from battery to IC 3rd pin.Still I observed the same problem as above.

I have added series 10K resistor instead of diode from battery to RTC 3rd pin.Constant voltage drop 19.3mV observed across resistor.

I have attached my RTC circuit for reference.Initially C90 and C94 are mounted on the board,while testing we removed the capacitors.

The above mentioned details are the our observations.We used rechargeable battery instead of non-rechargeable battery.

Please some body suggest me regarding this issue.

Thanks in advance.

DRB8301-69M-kit

I need to buy a motor for my new DRV8301-69M-kit that I just received.  Can you please give me suggestions.  Also, the web says that the controler is a 60 V, 60 A unit.  Is this the output of the controller to the motor?  I already bought the following motors for my other controller:  HVACIMTR, HVBLDCMTR, and HVPMSMMTR motors for the TMDSHVMTRINSPIN controller.  Will these motors work with the DRV8301-69M-kit?  If not, please suggest other motors.

Thank you

I just purchased the DRV8312-69M kit . How do I use trapezoidal sensored control to run the motor. When I say sensored control system I am referring to using Hall effect sensors. Do I just plug in the connector? and what interface do I need to do in order to run this ?

DRV8802 Question about Over Current Protection (OCP)

Hi,

On the datasheet for DRV8802 (p.10  Over Current Protection), it is described as below;

---------------------------------------

If this analog current limit persists for longer than the OCP time, all FETs in the H-bridge will be disabled and the
nFAULT pin will be driven low.

---------------------------------------

Can you please advise me the time for "OCP time"?  I can not find it on the datasheet.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I made a Schematic and a 2-Layer PCB. Did it in Altium. I was hoping to receive some professional advice to become a better hardware engineer.

If you are wondering about the 3d view, I made the body with the motors and the wheels in SolidWorks and then transferred it into Altium.

Thank you.
