Hi,
I have bought about 20 numbers of the High Voltage Motor Control and PFC Developer's Kit (http://www.ti.com/tool/TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT) and the three motors (ACI, PM and BLDC) which are recommended by TI and are compatible with this kit. We want to use the setups for educational purposes (Basic electric machines and power electronics lab in a university).
Can you please suggest a low cost solution to load up these motors. The motors aren’t rated more than 1hp. Loading the motor will be very helpful in visualizing current waveforms, torque-speed curves, etc..
A crude solution will be using weights or tightening a belt connected to the motor shaft but this will result in wearing out of the motor bearings due to unsymmetrical loading. I know that using low power Dynamometers and Eddy Current Brakes are an option but they are just too expensive.
Please suggest alternatives/solutions. How are these motors usually loaded, any recommendations from TI ?
Thank you,
Ramesh
